New Sketch Engine Interface

We are delighted to announce that there is new interface of Sketch Engine to be released late summer 2010. You can have a preview at

Indeed there will be a host of new features available in our new and improved interface including:

• "simple search" functionality available from all pages where you can retrieve an 'all in one' summary of a query to any corpus. The result includes a concordance, frequency distribution over text types and word sketch summary
• Tickbox Lexicography for clustered word sketches which allows a user to select collocations and examples to be copied to the clipboard
• Text type multiselect for free text header fields
• CQL enhancements:
  • <query> within <query>
  • <query> containing <query> as a counterpart to within
  • within and containing can be used in conjunction, and with a numerical range of tokens e.g. [lemma="break"] within ([]{3} containing [lemma="rule"])

We do recommend that you have a look and would be very happy if you start trying out this new interface right away. All your subcorpora will be available as they are at the current interface. We will be updating the Sketch Engine documentation ready for the release late summer 2010. When this new version is released it will be installed as the default but we will keep the current version of Sketch Engine available at an alternative URL until at least 1st October 2010 in case you have ongoing work which depends on this version.
