To specify the context for a word in terms of surrounding words or word classes:
- Select a corpus by clicking on Home, or if you already have the corpus you want selected go straight to the Concordance Query screen by clicking Concordance (left hand side menu)
- Type in your query.
- If the Context options are not already displayed, click on Context in the expert options on the left hand side panel.
- Here you can either restrict your search to the lemma/s or PoS of lemmas either side of your query by choosing the lemma or PoS filter.
- You select one or more lemmas by typing them in the lemma box
- You can specify all, any or none of these lemmas should be matched in the context using the drop down menu
- Using the window, you can specify how many tokens (words or punctuation) these lemmas must appear either left, right or either side (both) of the words in your query (referred to as the "node" or KWIC)
- You select one or more PoS by selecting from the menu (use CTRL+click for multiple selection)
- You can specify that the PoS should "all" occur associated with lemmas in the context, or "any" or "none" should occur using the drop down menu
- Using the window, you can specify how many tokens (words or punctuation) these PoS must occur either left, right or either side (both) of the words in your query (referred to as the "node" or KWIC)
