Word Sketch Differences Entry

In the Word Sketch Differences Entry Form on the main panel you enter a lemma (base or stem form of a word) with part of speech (e.g. noun) and either:

  • a second lemma (which you wish to compare to the first lemma) or
  • two different subcorpora that you wish to contrast with respect to that lemma or
  • two different word forms that you wish to contrast with respect to that lemma

You can also specify:

  • whether the relations are displayed in one block, or common vs mutually exclusive blocks
  • the minimum frequency of the collocations to be considered
  • a threshold on the minimum similarity between lemmas in the same cluster
  • the maximum number of relations in the common and exclusive blocks

NB that you can save these options

click Show Diff to see a summary of how the word sketches of the two lemmas (their grammatical and collocational behaviour) differs.

For examples of this tool see the Sketch Difference section of the "getting started" documentation.
