Sort Page Help
In the main panel of the interface you have various options for sorting the concordance you created with your query.
There are two main sections:
Simple Sort
First, decide what attribute you want to use for sorting. "Word" is the default, but you could also sort by other attributes such as "tag" (part of speech tag) or a document attribute.
You then select whether you are sorting the concordance by the content (e.g. word) to the left, right or the actual "node" (also referred to as the KWIC i.e. the part of the text that matched your query).
You can select how many tokens are sorted e.g. 3, if you wanted to sort 3 words to the left
You can select to ignore case and you can also select to sort backwards (reverse the sort)
Multilevel Sort
The choices are the same as the simple sort, but with a multilevel sort you can sort 2 or 3 levels. Thus, for example, you could have a concordance for the simple query fire, and then sort by 3 levels where the first is the part-of-speech of the node (KWIC), the second is the word (i.e. word form) of the node and the third is the word form of the word to the left (1L). As a result, the concordance would be sorted according to the part of speech, but within each part of speech (the first being say, singular noun) the word forms would be sorted in order and for each word form (say FIRE), the concordance would be sorted by the word to the left.
Select how many levels you wish to use and select the options for each level. (see also here).
